“This was the first season we have had the Jumbotron,” said Ken Carter, special educator for Elmore Park Middle School and Bartlett High School press box announcer. Herbi-Systems was honored as a sponsor on the big board.

“We want to add value to the community as a whole where the children of our employees and customers attend school and participate in extracurricular activities,” said Herbi-Systems owner Kenny Crenshaw, whose business is based in Bartlett.

Herbi-Systems Vegetation Territory Manager Jason Pope and his wife, Tina, who works for Bartlett City Schools, earned the coin toss honor. And as luck would have it, Bartlett got the ball first. Jason was chosen for the coin toss due to his lead role in coordinating the spraying of the Bartlett Athletic fields that Herbi-Systems began doing gratis in the spring of 2015, according to Mr. Carter.

The giveback labor is a part of Herbi-Systems’ core culture as a community partner and translates into roughly 11 acres of coverage which includes the softball, soccer, baseball and football fields at the high school and also the W.J. Freeman Park area.

Mr. Carter said the Bartlett team competes as a 6A class school with 8 teams a season.
